Titoki, New Zealand Oak.
Description:
A native that forms a well shaped medium sized tree. It has attractive foliage and bark that is almost black.
Flower:
Small red flowers in summer, accompanied by brown fruit that split to show black seed against the scarlet inside of the capsule.
Size:
7m x 4m.
Growing Conditions:
A half hardy tree that needs soil with good drainage. Not suitable for exposed situations.
Care:
Prune as needed to retain shape.
Uses:
Excellent specimen tree for a sheltered situation.
Informal screening.
