Description:
A broad topped tree noted for its large glossy green and yellow leaves which give a tropical appeal.
Flower:
Greenish flowers in long panicles in mid winter are followed by shiny black, fleshy berries.

Growing Conditions:
· Puka enjoy a well worked and rich soil. Add plenty of compost and organic material if not.
· Plant in full sun or part shade.
· A hardy tree once established. They are tolerant of coastal conditions but need protection from strong wind and frost, especially when young.
Care:
Very little care required if given the position outlined above. Older leaves can be removed for appearance as can frost damaged or wind-burned leaves. You can prune for size and shape.
Uses:
· Dramatic specimen plant and could be grown in a large container for a number of years.
· Excellent for patios where height is needed. Makes a useful informal screen.
· A feature plant mixed in with other suitable natives such as Flaxes and grasses.
Comment:
A perennial favourite in all landscape design particularly modern and native settings.
