Pimelea prostrata

Description

Common Name:

NZ Daphne.

Description:

A low growing groundcover with tight, blue- grey foliage.

Flower:

Very small white flowers appear in spring and summer.

Size:

10cm x 1m spread.

Growing Conditions:

Pimelia does best in a sunny location in well drained soil. A fantastic spreader that will spread amongst rocks as well as hang over low walls.

Care:

Little care required except for an occasional trim to keep tidy or to size.

Uses:

  • A great contrasting groundcover to help keep weeds down.
  • Ideal for rockeries and native gardens.
  • Plant in pots or on low walls to hang over nicely.

Comments:

Pimelia is one of our favourite groundcovers. The brilliant colour is an interesting contrast to other coloured plants. Use with grasses, flaxes and Hebe’s for an easy care planting. Or use with the similar coloured Euphorbia glauca and the native iris, Libertia for another great combination.
