Description:
A dense growing groundcover with wiry stems and small dark green leaves.
Flower:
Flowers prolifically in summer and has masses of small creamy flowers. Female flowers are followed by small translucent berries.

Growing Conditions:
Muehlenbeckia is very hardy and can handle a wide range of climatic conditions including dry, windy, hot, semi shaded and rocky situations. Unlike its shrubby relation, Muehlenbeckia astonii, axillaris is not well suited to coastal gardens.
Care:
Trim occasionally to keep tidy.
Uses:
· Useful groundcover for rough soil or as part of a native planting. Will spill over retaining walls and banks.
· A neat under planting for all sorts of tree and shrubs especially natives such as Cabbage trees and Flaxes.
Comment:
This is one of our most popular native groundcovers. It is naturally found in rocky areas and river beds. Its tidy habit and the ability to handle many different conditions make it a great pick.
