Ceanothus 'Yankee Point'

Californian Lilac 
 
Description:
 
A hardy spreading shrub that is wider than high. 
 
Flower:
 
Masses of small blue ‘pom- pom’ like flowers cover the shrub in summer. 
  
Size:
 
1.2m x 2m

Growing Conditions: 
  
Ceanothus are found on rocky, exposed cliffs so can be considered hardy. They like a sunny spot in well draining soil. 
 
Care:
 
Ceanothus needs little in the way of special care but response well to a regular prune. This keeps them tidy and in a good shape. 
 
Uses: 

  • Useful plant for hot and dry banks.
  • A nice filler shrub for summer colour.
  • Colourful addition for mixed gardens.

Comments: 
  
‘Yankee Point’ is a neat shrub that is colourful and very hardy. While it is more of a shrub it makes a useful groundcover for exposed banks etc. Combine it with any of the suggestions below for an easy care and colourful planting.
