Common Name:
Golden Irish Moss
Description:
A groundcover that forms a tight mound of yellow- green foliage.
Flower:
Very tiny white flowers on small stems appear in summer.
Size:
Spreads to approximately 70cm.
Growing Conditions:
A hardy groundcover that does best in full sun to keep tight foliage growth and strong colour. Needs a well drained soil, but regularly watering during dry spells.
Care:
Prevent Sagina from getting too wet. Plants that have rotted in the centre can be encouraged back by spreading a small amount of sand in the gap.
Uses:
- Use in containers with other spreaders like Acaena, or around Libertia.
- Great in rock gardens.
- A useful groundcover, especially in a river-stone or pebble mulch with grasses.
Comments:
Sagina is an attractive perennial with great colour. Team it up with other perennials such as Thyme, Heuchera and Saxifraga for an easy care and colourful summer garden.
