Description:
A Japanese native with compact foliage and a rounded shape. Deep bronze-purple foliage in spring and summer, turns crimson in autumn. After a short deciduous period, vivid new shoots appear.
Flower:
Pale yellow flowers with orange-red sepals appear in summer, followed by shiny-red berries.
Size:
1.3m high x 1m wide
Growing Conditions:
Generally easy to grow, they prefer moderately moist, sandy loam soil, but may also do well in other conditions. For better foliage colour and greater crops of berries, plant in full sun, although they will also flourish in partial sun.
Care:
Minimal care is required apart from an annual prune to maintain size and shape.
