Common Name:
Leucanthemum ‘Sparkles’
Description:
A charming little perennial with fine cut silver foliage.
Flower:
Pure white, daisy like flowers with a bright yellow centre. Flowers continuously right through spring and summer.
Size:
30cm x 30cm
Growing Conditions:
Plant in full sun with good drainage. Considered easy care it can tolerant coastal gardens, exposed spots and dry spells.
Care:
A very hardy and no-fuss plant. Remove spent flowers to encourage a re-flush. Trim at the end of the season to retain a tidy habit.
Uses:
- A colourful choice for containers, banks, rockeries and mass planting.
- Use as an informal edge or small hedge.
- Use as a border plant with Lavender, Osteospermum or Dietes behind.
Comment:
Combine with other long flowering perennials for a brilliant display. Team up with the bright purple flowers of Brachyscome ‘Amethyst’ or the similar silver and white colours of Cerastium tomentosum (Snow in the Summer). The bold daisy flowers of Osteospermum in pinks, yellow, white and purple will also look good.
My favourite combination would be with the golden yellow moss, Sagina aurea and the blue flowers of either Sisrynchium ‘Devon Skies’ or Campanula ‘Resholdt’s’.
