Common Name:
Lilyturf, Monkey Grass.
Description:
A clump forming perennial with dark green, glossy, strap like leaves.
Flower:
Spikes of purple-blue flowers sit amongst the foliage through summer.
Size:
35cm x 40cm
Growing Conditions:
Liriope muscari tolerate a wider range of soil and light conditions but prefer a moist, fertile soil with partial shade. However, they can handle heat, drought and full shade.
Care:
In winter the older leaves can brown off, so trim them back before the new growth re-emerges in spring. Clumps can be divided in late winter.
Uses:
· Perfect for borders and informal edging.
· They make great under-plantings for trees and shrubs. Combine with Hostas for a neat display.
· They are good for edging pots. Imagine an Olive in the centre with Liriope around the edges.
Comment:
Liriope is a popular landscaping plant as it is a low fuss, high impact plant.
