These are answers to some of our frequently asked questions:
FRUIT TREES
We should have the new seasons Fruit Trees in the nursery from the 26th July onwards.
Please check for the new Fruit Tree Availability List dated 26th July 2024 for varieties.
Q: Do you actually grow the plants?
A: There are things such as Roses and Bedding plants that we buy in but everything else is grown by us at the nursery. We start the plant from a cutting (or seed or division) and take it through to a saleable plant. If needed, we do swap stock between the branches, which is why you will often see us unloading and reloading the truck.
Q: Do you only grow natives?
A: No. While we grow a great range of native plants they are only part of our selection. We grow a broad range of exotic perennials, shrubs and trees. Check out the catalogue to see for yourself.
Q: How long will it take to get to the nursery?
A: The Wainuiomata branch is only 15mins from Central Lower Hutt and Petone and 30mins from Upper Hutt and Central Wellington. The Ohau branch is only 10mins from Levin and 30mins from Paraparaumu.
Q: Do you accept Gift Cards?
A: Yes. We sell and redeem NGIA Garden Gift Cards. When purchases are made by Gift Cards our discount structure does not apply. You can check the balance of your giftcards at www.gardenvouchers.co.nz
We also accept Farmcard.
Q: Do you do on- site visits?
A: Unfortunately we are too busy to have a design section, but we are more than happy to help as much as possible if you were to bring out some photos or sketches. Alternatively we can recommend some great designers or landscapers depending on what you need.
Q: Do you deliver?
A: Absolutely. Ring your nearest branch for more information on delivery fees and times. You can either come in and choose your plants for delivery or check out the catalogue and availability lists and order via e-mail, phone or fax. We predominantly supply the Wellington region, so for deliveries outside of the Wellington and Kapiti/ Horowhenua areas please note there is a minimum order of 50 plants. We only use dedicated plant transporters and orders less than this are cost prohibitive.
Q: Do you have a loyalty card?
A: No. We believe in just offering the best price and the best plants all the time to everybody. As you are buying from the grower, we can offer wholesale prices direct to the public. We have discounts available for bulk purchases over 30 plants.
Q: Do you supply trade customers?
A: Moores Valley Nurseries supplies all sectors of the gardening trade. If you are a local landscaper, landscape designer, council entity, nursery or parks division we welcome your enquiries. E-mail us enquires@mooresvalleynurseries.co.nz for a current copy of our tradelist. You are also very welcome to visit us on site and have a look around.
Q: My organisation is seeking plant donations and/ or sponsorship. What is your policy?
A: We regret that we cannot provide support for every school, charity, club or organisation that requests it. Unfortunately our budget does not match the level of requests we receive. If you would like to be considered please feel free to contact us regarding your organisation and/ or event.
