Deciduous

Acer pseudoplatanus
A stunning maple. The spring leaves emerge orange-pink and settle into a leaf that is green splashed with cream and pink colouring and the underside of the leaf is purple. From Esk Valley in the North Island, this medium sized tree will be a neat feature. 4m x 3m
 
Albizia julibrissin (Silk Tree)
A deciduous medium sized spreading tree with attractive fern like foliage and fluffy pink flowers. Great choice as a shade tree. 6m x 5m
 
Betula pendula (Silver Birch)
A popular tree due to a nice airy habit and the silvery- white bark of mature specimens. Small green leaves turn yellow in autumn. Looks neat when planted in groups. 8m x5m
 
Cercis chinesis ‘Avondale’
This dwarf form of the Chinese Redbud was found in Auckland. Small, cerise pink flowers appear on bare stems in spring and are followed by green heart- shaped leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Plant in a warm, sheltered spot and prune as required for shape. 3m x 2m
 
Cercis canadensis
An attractive specimen tree with bright purple leaves shaped like hearts. Bright pink flowers appear in spring giving extra colour. A well formed upright tree. 5m x 3m
 
Fraxinus oxycarpa
A deciduous tree that is valued for its strong claret red colouring in the autumn. A nice pyramidal form that is ideal as a feature tree, for shade, as an avenue or even background filler. Plant in fertile soil that drains well. 8m x 5m
 
Prunus
A highly attractive specimen tree grown for the smoky purple foliage that last through spring and summer. In early spring masses of single, soft pink flowers adorn the bare branches making a delightful display. Protect from strong wind. 6m
 
Pyrus salicifolia
A gracefully shaped deciduous tree with silver leaves. Small white flowers in spring are followed by small fruit. A brilliant focal or specimen tree for any sized garden. Looks especially good when used against a dark background. 3m x 3m
 
Sorbus aria
This neat specimen tree has an attractive form and it noted for it's broad grey fluffy leaves. An excellent choice for cooler regions. Impressive colour makes this tree a perfect specimen or filler. 6m x 3m
 
Alnus cordata (Italian Alder)
A medium to large growing tree with an attractive pyramidal habit. Bright green foliage 'hangs' on the tree long after many after deciduous trees have shed theirs. Ideal specimen tree but also useful as hedging and shelter. Can tolerate wet and dry soil. 12 x 8m
